The project was created in 2005 to address the excessively high rates of youth suicide, substance abuse, bullying, and school violence in 25 American Indian and Alaska Native communities in the United States and its territories through the implementation of culturally appropriate, evidence-based interventions. Goals1. Promote and nurture effective and culturally appropriate mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment services for Native populations.
2. Identify culturally appropriate, effective evidence-based mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment practices and disseminate them so that they can be applied successfully across diverse tribal communities. 3. Provide technical assistance, training and products to expand the capacity and quality of mental heath and substance abuse prevention and treatment practitioners serving Native populations. |
